Historical Time Machine

Historical Time Machine

Zippppp zappppp zoooooom beep beep my time machine was all set to take me to the medieval period of India. I pressed the red button of my remote control…….5, 4,3,2,1

zooooooommmmmm.
After five minutes when I opened my eyes, I was standing in the middle of a beautiful village. I saw greenery and beautiful farms everywhere. People looked extremely happy and content with their lives. I had not seen so many happy and smiling faces ever; I was eager to know the secret behind this happiness so that I could take it back and spread it in the 21st century. So first I went to the farmers and asked them the secret behind their happiness. They told me that people in their village prospered because they had a great leader. When I was about to ask them their great leaders name, the farmers continued talking about their love and affection towards their leader. In my heart I knew whom they were talking about and so I was filled with happiness when the people in the end called out his name with great pride Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
They told me that Maharaj had instructed his officers to provide the farmers with bullocks, ploughs and good seeds for sowing. They told me more about his kindness, encouragement and generosity towards agriculture and the people in his Kingdom. Women too felt happy and safe. They told me that Shivaji Maharaj inculcated the value of respect in his people towards every girl and woman. People from different religions told me that Shivaji Maharaj respected every religion and followed a religious tolerance policy. My heart was now filled with great respect for this amazing leader. I ran with excitement to meet my favorite leader. As I ran I could breathe the air filled with fragrance of Maratha patriotism. Suddenly, I looked up and realized that I had reached the beautiful and strong Raigad fort. I was super happy to meet my favorite leader and idol Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I wanted to tell him everything about all that is happening back at home. I felt that India desperately needed a leader like Shivaji Maharaj and wanted him to come back with me in the 21st century.

As I got ready to enter his court, I saw many soldiers walking and guarding the fort. I could see the love, respect and
dedication in their eyes for     their leader. I could see Shivaji Maharaj talking to the people discussing their problems. I stood in the line and waited for my turn. When the line started moving closer to him, my heart started beating faster with nervousness. At last when my turn came I had tears in my eyes. I couldn’t believe that finally I was standing in front of my idol, my favorite leader. I told him about everything in the 21st century. I requested and begged him to come along with me. I told him that INDIA needed a leader like Shivaji Maharaj and that we miss him a lot. He smiled and looked at me and told me not to worry. He told me that he is still alive in the hearts of all those people who work towards the development and progress of India. I too promised him that through my teaching I would inspire my students to follow the path of Shivaji Maharaj. I could see a big smile on his face and I bent down to touch his feet and take his blessings. Tears rolled down my eyes and a small droplet of my tear fell on his feet. Shivaji maharaj kept his hand on my head and blessed me as I looked up, my vision blurred and I couldn’t see him anymore. Zippp zapppp zoom, I opened my eyes and suddenly found myself at home. The tears in my eyes were still there, my TV remote control with a red button was lying beside me and then I could see my mom smiling at me.

She told me that I was busy reading the seventh Standard History text book with great interest and suddenly fell asleep. She asked me which chapter I was reading. I opened my text book and showed her the picture of the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. J
